Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo and his partner Noa van der Bij welcomed a new addition to their family on April 25 when Noa gave birth to a baby boy
The couple have now revealed their adorable baby’s name in a social media post, and have been inundated with messages of congratulations and support from the football world and beyond. “On 04-25-24, we were blessed with the new love of our lives, Samuel Seth Jacobo,” they wrote.
Liverpool star Ryan Gravenberch sent him a love letter while outgoing goalkeeping coach John Achterberg was the last to contact him. Red Devils midfielder Curtis Jones’ partner, Savi Khan, also sent her well wishes. Other pundits such as Tottenham player Micky van de Ven and Jacobo’s fellow Dutch international Noah Lange also commented on the post. Noa went into labor ahead of the Merseyside derby against Everton, despite knowing that Jacobo should have been in the starting lineup before having to withdraw from the squad.
The baby was born the next day. This season, the striker scored 15 goals in 51 matches in all competitions. The Netherlands international struggled at times earlier this season with Jurgen Klopp admitting he caused “problems” by playing Jacobo in a deeper midfield position amid an injury crisis.
The former PSV Eindhoven captain also said he was “curious” about playing under new coach Arne Slott. “To be honest, I’ve never worked with him,” Jackpo said of Slota’s upcoming appearance. Of course I know he is an excellent coach and he proved that at Alkmaar as well as at Feyenoord. “Of course, we played against Feyenoord a few times, and they were usually tough games. I’m very curious and I think we’re all looking forward to it. He added: “The goal has not been achieved yet and now it is to finish the last two matches well, for ourselves, for the club, for the coach, and after that we will look at the new coach.”
Jacobo joined Liverpool in 2022 from PSV Eindhoven for an initial fee of £37m.
