Mo Salah sends FSG message as Liverpool ace answers Slot plea during AC Milan win

Liverpool got their Champions League campaign off with a statement win away to AC Milan.

Arne Slot’s Liverpool got off to a flying start in the Champions League by recovering to defeat European giants AC Milan. One of the most anticipated fixtures of the opening round, Liverpool’s clash with Milan got off to a nightmare start when former Chelsea star Christian Pulisic put the hosts ahead after just three minutes. However, the Reds remained calm and did not panic early on, with goals from Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk restoring balance at the San Siro.

In the end, it was a fairly comfortable night for the six-time winner, with Dominik Szoboszlai adding a third in the second half. A perfect birthday present for manager Slot, who ended Saturday’s Premier League defeat with a comfortable win over Milan. Salah sent a message to FSG as contract talks hit a dead end

Mohamed Salah continued to show Liverpool’s owners why he deserved a contract extension, with the Egyptian shining on his return to the Champions League.

In the heart of a first half that saw the Reds attack from the back, Salah may not have scored or provided an assist, but he came close, hitting the bar on two separate occasions. His excellent, albeit goalless, performance continued in the second half, with Salah making it clear to FSG and the Liverpool board that the Merseysiders were a better team with him on the pitch. Speaking ahead of the Milan game, the Dutchman commented:

“The only thing we have to work on is scoring goals and creating chances. His numbers need to increase.

Well, they went ahead, with the Hungarian in the right place at the right time to swerve towards goal and add Liverpool’s third midway through the second half.
