Theo Walcott says Liverpool are about to face something ‘not nice’ which could be their ‘downfall’

Liverpool are contesting one of the fiercest and most exciting Premier League title races in recent years this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds face Arsenal and Manchester City in their quest for the title, with just one point separating first and third place. This week we also have plenty of options with a midweek match, and on Thursday night we will see Liverpool in action after the Gunners and

Citizens won on Wednesday.

The Reds host Sheffield United at 7.30pm at Anfield, and a win would put the 19-time English champions back on top. When it comes to top-flight football, a good margin often makes a big difference. Now, Theo Walcott believes Liverpool are facing something like this and it could hamper their title hopes.

What did Theo Walcott say about the Liverpool match? Speaking on BBC 5 Live Sport, the former Arsenal player believes that playing four consecutive away matches in all competitions could pose a danger to the Red Devils. Walcott said: “The only thing I want to say about Liverpool is that they have four consecutive away games after Atalanta, and that may be the reason for their downfall.”

“That’s the only thing I can say. They must face Atalanta, Fulham, Everton and West Ham away from home.

“Playing away from home is not good, because there are other things that can affect it, such as players constantly leaving home for four away matches, which makes players lose their rank often.”

Walcott is right, and as a former professional footballer he understands the rigors of the game better than most. However, Liverpool’s players are all top-tier professionals who have the chance to make history. This season, not to mention they want to give Klopp the perfect send-off.

Hopefully the prospect of winning a 20th English title – putting them on par with Manchester United – and capping Klopp’s reign in this way will motivate the players further.
